Start with a project
Find your way around Distari and make a home for your research.
Distari keeps the papers, questions, notes and drafts for a piece of research together. Start in the web app. The desktop and mobile apps are still in release validation.
Get access
Sign-up is invite-only during private testing. If you have an invitation, follow its link, create your account and verify your email. Existing members can sign in. If you do not have an invitation yet, contact the person who is bringing you into their project.
New accounts include an Explore Distari sample project. You can use it to learn the workspace without importing your own papers or spending credits on its initial processing.
Make your research space
Create a project for a question, paper, literature review or team. Give it a name and a useful description. The description is your project brief: Distari uses it when judging relevance and suggesting papers, so write what you are trying to learn, including any boundaries that matter.
The project opens into five modes:
| Mode | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Overview | Recent work, goals and literature coverage |
| Library | Papers, notes, folders, search and the citation graph |
| Threads | Questions and saved paper comparisons |
| Writing | Drafts with sources beside the editor |
| Discover | New papers to review and bring into the library |
A good first pass
- Add a paper as a PDF, link or identifier.
- Open its summary, then read the original when a claim matters.
- Ask a question about that paper or your whole library.
- Save an observation in a note and begin a writing when you have an argument to develop.
Paper processing and some AI actions use credits. Distari shows a quote before costed work starts. A metadata-only paper can still be organized and searched when its PDF is unavailable.
